DELL gives a unique serial number to all desktops/laptop it sells as it gives them a unique identification which is useful when you call for support. With the help of the service tag number the technical support executive identifies the model, hardware and software details of the computer to give the right support.
The service tag can be found easily on the CPU/Server or below the keyboard of the laptop but sometimes either you are not present near the PC or the sticker containing the information is missing or not readable. So in order to get the details you can Windows Command prompt which help you capture the details within seconds.
1. Go To Start>> Run or WinKey + R
2. Type CMD
3. Past this code :-
wmic bios get serialnumber
4. Press Enter
This is how it’ll look like so here the serial number is starting with 65LV
If you want to know the model name, vendor also then use the following code:-
wmic csproduct get vendor,name,identifyingnumber
And press Enter
